1.  ever wonder why srt get black all over after a water change? they prefer old water over clean so limit your waterchanges.  They also get black under stress
2.  add black water extract to your tank to create superb conditions for your srt.  they will show their true colors!
3.  trying to get your srt females to spawn? do a water change and turn up the heat.  they like clean water to spawn.
4.  want more intense color? try dark substrate, black makes great reds show
5.  ever wonder why before you turn the lights on in your tank and your srt is showing awesome color?  they like low lighting, so change out your lights to lower wattage and watch the color intensify

this info also applies to blood parrots, king kong parrots, and any other red colored fish related to these.

Flowerhorn facts

1. FH prefer clean water, so a few water changes a week are recommended to help ward off hex
2. FH prefer mixed color substrates light/dark to bring out awesome colors.  use a dark substrate and your FH will be dark and unattractive, use too light and he will look washed out and faded.
3. FH prefer aged water to spawn
4. trying to get some baby FH? introduce a male fh into a females tank behind a divider, you should see an immediate response from the female (flaring/flagging/head vibrating/etc)
